Saturday 10th March, the legendary Australian icon, Richard Clapton took to the stage at The Palms at Crown.
Clapton, who was once the producer for INXS, has written many hit songs and made 20 albums in the past forty years. He has earned himself a name, world-wide as a prominent Australian singer-songwriter.
Clapton casually strolled onto the stage in his jeans, black T-shirt and his black sunglasses. He happily shared the spotlight on stage with his outstanding band. Together, they exchanged amusing banter throughout the night and the audience loved it. As the night went on, the music moved from acoustic, to rock to electro-rock. He performed songs from his latest CD, House of Orange. His new songs are immediately likeable. Scattered between his new material, Richard threw in the much-loved songs that brought him fame.
The audience was moved, entranced not only by Richard but also by the rich, hypnotic sound of his band. The Palms felt like someone's lounge room and all his devoted fans were there, in this intimate setting. In between songs people yelled out: 'Calendar Girl', 'Go Richard!', 'Capricorn Dancer'. Clapton did not disappoint and the crowd went wild.
The concert went by too quickly. If you missed it, it is worthwhile going to see him in Geelong on the 18th of March 2018.
