It'd been some time since I last went to the circus and my idea of what they're about today was completely off target. The Edgley's tradition of staying relevant and meeting today's demanding expectations, is still very present.
The Great Moscow Circus is a full production event which leaves everybody in the audience, regardless of age, feeling wowed and breathless right throughout the show. And this indeed was an evolved and spectacular show with its full tradition held in tact.
People were on the edge of their seats as the trapeze artists flew high above our heads with blindfolds on, acrobats were flung over 30 feet in the air without nets in extremely daring feats and children (of all ages) were entertained from start to finish.
There wasn't a spare seat in the house as wide-eyed and open-mouthed patrons experienced a world class production of great talent and expertise. The sensational line up included acrobats, trapeze artists, amazing animal acts and elegantly poised aerial displays. Added to the mix of talent and feats was a dazzling lighting show accompanied by tightly synchronised choreography to music that helps create a magnificent experience.
A highlight of the show that's not to be missed is the motorcycle stunt men. In a small cylindrical metal cage with barely enough room to juggle 2 oranges (let alone a man on a motorbike), not one, nor 2, nor 3 men on bikes whizz around and upside down, but 6 of them, somehow manage to squeeze in there and come out alive.
Edgley's Great Moscow Circus is celebrating its 50th anniversary tour of Australia with planned visits to 80 destinations over the next 3 years. It boasts over 8 million viewers to their show since it first started in 1965. Expect a high impact and energy charged experience.
